Program Overview

TLE’s Make it Official Program is a technical assistance program for beauty and personal care services practitioners in the field of hairstyling, barbering, massage therapy, nail care, skin care, makeup artistry, eyebrow and lash therapy, tanning, hair removal, and spa therapy, currently offering their services but wanting to set up a formal business for the services they provide and better position the business they set up for growth and stabilization. The program is structured to provide all program participants with the technical assistance to develop a mini business plan, register their business, obtain business insurance, and implement those key digital tools needed to effectively promote and manage business performance.

How Our Program Works

The program is open to all beauty practitioners that operate as an independent contractor or work out of their home and want to set up a formal business for the services they provide.

The Primary Objectives of TLE’s our Make it Official Program are to ensure participants:

  • Register a formal business for their services and can provide a certificate of good standing (required for access to capital)
  • Have the appropriate business insurance needed to manage risk
  • Have bookkeeping and scheduling systems in place to track and manage their financial activities and clients
  • Have a mini business plan for how they will be growing their business
  • Are better positioned for access to capital to grow their business

Eligibility Requirements:

The eligibility requirements for our Make it Official Program are as follows:

  1. Applicants must be a licensed beauty or personal care business and show proof of current licensure
  2. Applicants must have the desire to seek support, services, and coaching and mentoring from our business incubator community (staff and partners) to achieve their venture’s mission.
  3. Applicants must be able to attend all program sessions; have a willingness to be held accountable to weekly/monthly program goals; and must be open to receiving and accepting feedback.
  4. Applicants must demonstrate an overall readiness to fully implement their business plans once completed.
